Welcome to the Aiya Solar Project EIS Web Site

This Web site is the online center for public information and involvement in the Aiya Solar Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), as the lead federal agency, with the Moapa Band of Paiutes Indians (Moapa Band), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) as cooperating agencies, intends to prepare an EIS that will evaluate a proposed solar energy generation center on the Moapa River Indian Reservation (Reservation), Clark County, Nevada.
The Aiya Solar Project would involve the development of up to 900 acres of the Reservation to produce approximately 100 megawatts (MWs) of solar energy. It will help to provide a long-term, diverse, and viable economic revenue base and job opportunities for the Moapa Band while assisting Nevada and neighboring states meet their State renewable energy needs. The Project would allow the Moapa Band, in partnership with the developer, to optimize the use of the lease site while maximizing the potential economic benefit to the Tribe.
